April/May 2011: On Disaster Assessment deployment with American Red Cross in Poplar Creek, Mississippi

Joseph is Kay's Assistant, Photographer, Virtual Tour Builder, Website Administrator, House Measurer, Press Release Writer, Technology Consultant, Marketing Advisor, Paperwork Completer, Dry-Witted Jokester, Gopher...in short, Kays right-hand (or left-handed, actually) Jack-of-all-Trades.  He is also Kay's son.

Born in Dallas, he grew up mainly in Plano.  He graduated with a B.A. summa cum laude in Psychology with a Philosophy minor from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University-San Marcos) in 1993.  He spent nearly ten years working in the field of brain-injury rehabilitation, and was honored to work four of those years as an Assistant Psychologist in Lancashire, England.  His travels have also taken him to Amsterdam, Las Vegas, and Mesa, Arizona.  He set aside his traveling shoes about four years ago to move back to the McKinney area.

For many years since his mother became a realtor, whenever she occasionally asked if he had ever thought of going into real estate, his reply was a firm, "No! I dont ever want to sell things again!"

Prior to joining his mother he was working for the Allen and Plano Ebby Halliday offices as Advertising Coordinator, where in addition to his planning and writing duties, he both amused, bemused, and confused agents by occasionally sending them humorous, but completely invented, news articles and press releases.   Following his sister Sheryl's decision to enter the teaching profession, Joseph finally decided to enter the world of real estate and take her place as Kay's assistant.

And the rest, as they say, is history..

In addition to his love for helping Kay provide word-class service to clients, Joseph maintains an interest in art and literature, astronomy, photography, writing, drawing, music, hiking, mountain climbing, fitness, yoga, Taekwondo, and computers.  He is  a  trained SKYWARN severe storm spotter, a licensed HAM radio operator with the call sign KE5ZWE, member of the Collin County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, and member of the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL).  He also volunteers time to the Greater Dallas American Red Cross Disaster Services, at both the Chapter level and McKinney Branch location, and has participated in Disaster Relief Operations in the Dallas Area and Mississippi.

Joseph is currently completing an online Master's Degree program in Emergency & Disaster Management  through American Military University.

Since 2007, Joseph can also occasionally be found at the beginning of December helping other Ebby agents and employees wrangle an overgrown balloon in the Neiman Marcus/Adolphus Childrens Parade.  He will also be returning to volunteer at the 2011 Dallas International Film Festival, where he first started volunteering at the inaugural 2007 festival.
